Charwei Tsai, a young Taiwanese artist (born in 1980) , is showcasing her work in her first solo exhibition in The Guild gallery,Mumbai India. She has conducted lot of exhibitions around the world - like Taipei, Paris, Sydney, Tokyo, Singapore, Hong Kong, Beijing. But this is her first exhibition in India.
Impermanence and change are the focus themes of her art.
“I see my installations as an object, with a lot of inspiration. It comes from my heart, which is further evolving,” says Charwei on her work. She further adds that her work is inspired from the Buddhist’s notion of impermanence and the cyclical nature of human existence.
Her exhibition named Thoughtforms, have installations that express the mind’s energy — formulating and emanating themselves by means of mantras, sound vibrations and philosophy. The artist feels that the thought is centered on a form and the form around a thought.
She uses different media for her art like, photos, videos, prints and even organic things like mushrooms, lotus and Bonsai trees etc and writes Buddhist mantras on them. Calligraphy plays an important role like the mushroom with text shown below ( in an exhibition at Queens Land ).
